(CNN) — Two Brooklyn men were arrested Friday in connection with an alleged plot to blow up a New York City subway station in Midtown Manhattan, law enforcement sources told CNN.
An informant for the New York Police Department tipped police to the plans to blow up the station in Herald Square, the sources said.
There is no indication that the two obtained any explosives and no apparent connection between the alleged plot and the Republican National Convention, the sources said.
Herald Square is a shopping area in Midtown Manhattan near Macy’s and several other retail stores at the intersection of Broadway and 34th Street.
The B, D, F, N, Q, R subway lines all run through the station.
