The police department in charge of combatting organized crime and terrorism has detained a ring that specialized in forging “Schengen” and U.S. visas.
Police received a tip-off about the group half a year ago but was initially unable to catch the criminals red-handed, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper wrote on Wednesday.
The ring members were arrested after they forged U.S. visas for two women from Armenia. They took $17,000 from the women who were not allowed to get on the plane from Moscow. The visas were of average quality. Police suspect they were made using a simple printer.
On the same day police arrested four gang members. Two of them, Moscow residents, showed the police certificates of an anti-corruption commission that reportedly turned out to be forged.
